Pre Star Wars Reads Day

Every year Star Wars hosts a “Star Wars Reads Day” around the middle of October. As I work with a collection of geeky and nerdy educators who appreciate the finer geeky things in life, there’s no way we could half-a** this!

I’m not going into details just yet, but I did want to show two of the things we’ve been working on.

  1. The middle and upper school students will have the option to participate in a contest to win a book of their choice. They will be asked to write an excuse for why their library book is late, but from the point of a view of a Star Wars character. Of course, I had to write examples.

2) We have this display window that has housed a 3D printer and various 3D printed objects for a while. We took that out, added some SW busts, toys, and builds, added a sparkly backdrop, and included some track lighting. It’s not finished, but I couldn’t resist showing off what we have so far. (Sorry for the glare. It opens from the back so I couldn’t avoid the glass!)

I LOVE this shot! The blue lighting reflects nicely off the glittery backdrop

Another great shot. I love how it looks like the light is coming from inside the Falcon.

It was very difficult to get a good shot with the red lighting. This was the best I could do for the time being.

There will be more to show off in the coming weeks. Surprises abound! But for now please comment below and let us know what you think! Also any creative excuses you can come up with! I would love to hear more!!
